Coasteering tour in Sagres, Algarve
Join an adrenaline-fuelled adventure!
Discover the wild Algarve coastline like never before on a 3-hour coasteering tour in Sagres. Run by our sister company Sagres Coasteering Tours, this guided adventure takes you along the dramatic cliffs and hidden coves of Europe’s southwestern tip — swimming through crystal-clear turquoise water, exploring sea caves you can only reach from the ocean, scrambling over intertidal rocks, and leaping from cliffs up to 10 metres high.
Coasteering is the perfect activity for anyone who loves the ocean but wants something different from a surf lesson. No experience is necessary — just a sense of adventure and a willingness to get wet!

What to Expect on Your Coasteering Tour
Your coasteering session begins at our meeting point in Sagres, where your guide will kit you out with a helmet, wetsuit, and buoyancy aid. After a safety briefing covering entry techniques, jump heights, and group signals, you’ll head to the coastline.
Over the next three hours you’ll:
• Swim through hidden sea caves and natural rock arches
• Climb across coastal rock formations with guidance from your instructor
• Jump from cliff platforms at various heights (2m to 10m) — always optional
• Explore secluded beaches only accessible from the water
• Spot marine life including fish, crabs, and occasionally dolphins
The route changes depending on tide and sea conditions, so every tour is unique.
Your guides know these cliffs intimately and will adapt the session to the group’s confidence level.

Why Coasteering in Sagres?
Sagres sits at the southwestern corner of mainland Europe, where the Atlantic meets some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Portugal. The limestone cliffs, sea stacks, and hidden grottoes make it one of the best coasteering locations in the Algarve — and arguably all of Europe.
The water temperature in the Algarve ranges from 16°C in winter to 22°C in summer, and the provided wetsuit keeps you comfortable year-round. Unlike busier stretches of the coast, the Sagres coastline remains wild and uncrowded, giving your group a genuine sense of exploration.
Who Is Coasteering For?
Coasteering is suitable for anyone aged 10 and over who can swim confidently. You don’t need to be super-fit — the guides set the pace and there are regular rest stops along the route. Jump heights are always optional, so you can watch from the water if a cliff feels too high.
It’s a fantastic group activity for families, stag and hen parties, team-building days, or simply a memorable morning during your Algarve holiday. Many of our guests combine a coasteering tour with surf lessons earlier in the week for the ultimate ocean experience.
