The beach is slightly outside of the town, on the tip of the peninsula heading towards the lighthouse at Cabo de São Vicente. Beliche boasts stunning views of the wild Atlantic Ocean and is renowned for its dramatic landscapes and rich history.
The beach is nestled between towering cliffs that rise up to 40 meters high, creating a secluded enclave shielded from the predominant winds. Accessible via a staircase comprising around 100 steps, this hidden gem offers a sense of seclusion and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.
How to get to Praia do Beliche?
By Car:
The most convenient way to reach Praia do Beliche is by car. From Sagres, it’s just a short drive of approximately 5 minutes. For those coming from farther afield, such as Lagos, the journey takes around 30 minutes by car. Parking at Beliche is ample and free, although in the summer it can get busy and drives may have to park on the road rather than the clifftop.
By Bus:
Alternatively, visitors can take a bus to Sagres and then hike along the coast path or transfer to a local bus or taxi to reach Praia do Beliche. While this option may take longer than driving, it offers a more environmentally friendly alternative for those who prefer not to drive.
Access:
To access the beach, visitors have to descend a staircase which starts off gently but there bottom section is steep and the rock is polished, so take care when heading up and down. For anyone with mobility issues, access can be especially tricky.
